Dan decided to become a Nurse Practitioner because he felt that it would provide a flexible and holistic framework to offer support for those dealing with mental health and medical issues. He has over 15 years of experience working in the psychiatric field as an outpatient psychopharm provider, seeing clients in a partial hospital program setting, and working on an inpatient psychiatric unit in the dual role as a Primary Care Provider and Psychiatric Attending. Currently Dan sees clients in his private practice on the North Shore.
Dan graduated with honors from MGH's Institute of Health Professions with a dual certification in Adult Primary Care and Adult Psychiatry / Mental Health. He is certified by the ANCC and AANP as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, and by the ANCC as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Adult Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist. While in school Dan spent clinical training time on medical and psychiatric units at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Cambridge Health Alliance, and the Bedford VA Hospital. Dan also worked on McLean Hospital's Bipolar and Schizophrenia floor for five years as a mental health specialist and as a staff nurse. While grounded in evidence based practices, Dan's private practice work is informed by his long history studying various "alternative" modaltities which complement his approach to caring for the whole person.
Dan is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing, the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, the Massachusetts Association of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses, an alumni and current Ambassador for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Health Service Corps, and a graduate and current board member of the Massachusetts Society for Bioenergetic Analysis.
